Visit the Etang de Thau
The Etang de Thau, also known as the Bassin de Thau, is the largest body of water in Occitanie. Located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, it covers an area of over 70 km², or almost 7,000 ha. Visitors particularly appreciate the variety ofsporting and water sports activities on offer.
Kitesurfing, sailing, diving and paddle boarding are all available. For the less adventurous, kayak or boat excursions allow you to explore the Etang de Thau and its nooks and crannies, islets and oyster farms, as well as the small fishing ports of Bouzigues, Marseillan and Mèze. The Etang de Thau is undoubtedly one of the must-see sites in the Hérault!
And while some are adventurous enough to fly over it, others like to explore it via its banks. On foot, mountain bike, quad bike or horseback, there’s no shortage of means of transport around this gigantic, emblematic Hérault basin, separated from the Mediterranean by only a thin strip of sand. This unspoilt natural environment is less than 30 minutes from the Etang de Thau campsite, and offers the chance to admire hundreds of animal and plant species.
This exceptional ecological diversity is just one of the Hérault region’s many must-see tourist attractions during your next stay at Domaine Sainte Véziane.
