Etang de Thau Discover

What to see around Etang de Thau?

The immediate vicinity of the Etang de Thau is literally teeming with festive and cultural towns, such as Sète. In this port city, also known as the “Little Venice of Languedoc”, music festivals and days of discovery of Hérault gastronomy follow one another throughout the summer season.

It’s an opportunity to discover or rediscover renowned products, such as Languedoc wines and Bouzigues oysters. Twenty kilometers to the west of the Etang de Thau campsite lies the commune of Vias, renowned for its Fabrikus World, France’s largest indoor fairground.

As the crossing point of the Canal du Midi to Béziers, many visitors also come to stroll through the historic old town, or laze on the sandy beaches of Vias-Plage.

Finally, Montpellier, capital of the Hérault region, is just over an hour’s drive from the Etang de Thau. This thousand-year-old city of preserved architecture is also a wine-growing town.

Rich in period fountains, monuments and museums, Montpellier has modernized without losing the medieval charm that characterizes its historic heritage.
