Marseillan, a town that was once dominated by Romans, Visigoths, religious wars and the Greeks, has managed to imprint its past on its architecture. It is strongly marked by the presence of buildings, monuments and places from ancient times, including the statue of the Republic, the old bourgeois houses and the old streets.
There’s also the covered square, the Marianne, its harbor and wine cellars, the Henri Maurain theater, etc. The town is divided into two main areas: Marseillan-Plage and Marseillan-ville, separated by theEtang de Thau.
The town’s streets are fairly small and winding. Marseillan-plage is located in the southern part of the town and stretches along the length of the beach, close to the port. Several new buildings are located here, as are several campsites. Ideal for finding accommodation for your stay. Marseillan-ville is located on the other side of town, between the Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, the town hall and the covered square. The buildings are old, but those in the heart of town are more recent.
