Frontignan, an Occitan town on the Mediterranean coast

Culinary and local specialities

In a region where wine and gastronomy go hand in hand, Frontignan is best known for its large vineyard and, in particular, its AOC-labeled Muscat wine. Muscat de Frontignan belongs to one of Languedoc-Roussillon’s 12 wine-growing sub-regions, called Coteaux-du-Languedoc La Clape.

Vineyards are an integral part of everyday life in Frontignan. Wine cellars and bars, wine houses, restaurants, the Muscat festival, vineyard walks… so many activities to enjoy all year round.

Other Mediterranean culinary specialties to accompany your aperitif include: zézettes from Sète, tielle, oysters from Bouzigues, mussels from the Bassin de Thau, olives and aïolis or miquettes from Frontignan.

A natural and wild heritage to explore

Frontignan lies on the slopes of the Gardiole hills and around several ponds, including theIngril pond, which is part of the commune. In this mix of wild and unspoilt landscapes, you’ll find the Frontignan salt marshes.

This natural area is open to visitors wishing to observe the flora and fauna at close quarters, as part of an educational approach to environmental protection. Follow the marked paths on foot, by bike or on a guided tour, and you might just come across pink flamingos, ducks or other migratory birds.

Numerous hikes await you between sea and land.
